The Health Care Law and You

There are many benefits to the health care law. Let Be Covered help you understand them, so you can make the best decisions for you and your family.

If you do not have health insurance…

Your job may not offer health insurance. You may have had problems getting coverage before because of a pre-existing health problem. Or you may not have been able to afford health insurance.

Many things have changed because of the health care law, such as:

  • Many individuals and families that did not have insurance or could not afford coverage before now have options to get coverage.
  • You now have access to health insurance if you are a U.S. citizen or a legal resident—in fact, most people must get insurance or they may have to pay a penalty tax.
  • Health plans offer coverage to people with existing health problems.
  • Some people are able to get help paying for health insurance premiums.

If you already have health insurance…

If you’re already insured with your employer or a government agency, the health care law may not have changed how you get or pay for health insurance. But you may have access to some new benefits that the law puts in place like free preventive screenings and the ability to insure your adult children ages 19-26
